Harry's Plus Review

Does Harry's All-New Plus Razor Live Up to the Hype?

The AskMen editorial team thoroughly researches & reviews the best gear, services and staples for life. AskMen may get paid if you click a link in this article and buy a product or service.

Walk through any grooming aisle at a store or scroll through an online grooming store, and you’ll be hit with razor after razor after razor. Each one promises a dizzying amount of features and traits: disposable, double-blade, triple-blade, five-blade, pivoting heads, lubricating strips, comfortable handles. The options stretch longer than a CVS receipt! How’s a man supposed to choose which one is going to offer him the best shave?

Some swear by the budget-friendly single blade for that old-school barbershop vibe. Meanwhile, others chase the multi-blade promise of a closer shave, hoping those extra edges mean less time scraping at stubborn stubble. Then there’s the flex-head trend, designed to hug every curve of your face like a tailored suit. Add in buzzwords like precision trimming or aloe-infused strips, and it’s enough to make you ditch the razor for a beard.

Despite all the seemingly endless options, Harry’s has taken it upon themselves to spend the last 10 years researching and developing what they’re calling Harry’s most premium shave ever. The razor is aptly named Harry’s Plus. Is this really something innovative and special or is it simply another razor making big promises that offer more of the same?

To determine that, I got my hands on one to test, so that I could personally find out if it lives up to the hype or just adds another option to confuse you on an already crowded shelf. For the record, Harry’s PLUS is sold exclusively on Harrys.com, and you’ll have a few options to choose from:

So what’s so special about these new blades anyway? According to Harry’s, a lot of things. Let’s start with comfort: Harry’s Plus redefines the cartridge with sharper, smarter blades that cradled my face, delivering a silky-smooth shave that left me feeling refreshed rather than raw. Every glide feels more like a good massage, making the morning shaving ritual something to savor rather than dread. Instead of that all too common tug and pull irritation of so many blades, my skin felt like it was being pampered at a spa.

The first time I clicked the Harry’s Plus cartridge into place, it easily loaded on. And by the way, it was just as easy to unload for a replacement. Harry’s says it’s their biggest leap yet, with blades that cut hair in a smart, logical order. It’s kind of wild to say it, but they weren’t kidding. Those five blades moved like a barbershop quartet, each one hitting its mark, slicing my stubble with a precision that had me checking the mirror twice. No snags or stragglers. Just a clean sweep.

Running the Harry’s Plus over my jaw was like driving a sports car. It was smooth, sharp, and a bit exciting. Shaving culture and the fun of shaving tends to revolve around traditional straight razors rather than disposable razors, but I have to say, testing out Harry’s Plus actually made me look forward to the shave experience. Harry’s claims they’ve rewritten the rulebook on performance, and my face is nodding along. These blades have been retooled for perfect angles and edge finesse. Each stroke carved through my beard like it was butter, no drag or burn. I guess this is what happens when engineering gets personal with your skin.

For me, shaving has always felt a bit like a wrestling match. I’ve gone through countless razors trying to find the perfect one, usually settling for good enough. But this glided over my jaw and chin like it’s got a map of my skin. Harry’s says it follows your contours for a precise, irritation-free shave. I’m not going to pretend to know whether it followed the curves of my face or not, but I can say with certainty the advanced pivot head danced around my cheekbones, never nicking and always sticking the landing. It’s like the razor’s one step ahead, adjusting to every dip and turn before I even notice. My skin didn’t just survive the shave; it felt like it got a VIP experience.

By the way, all this talk about the blade and my skin, and I can’t ignore the fact that even the handle was pretty amazing. It’s kind of wild to say, but it feels like the handle was designed specifically for my hand. This goes beyond science; it’s more like magic. It really felt like it was molded for my hand. Harry’s calls it ergonomic with a non-slip grip, but that’s underselling it. The moment I grabbed it, with its sleek metal and grippy rubber, I felt like I was in control and that’s really one of the most important parts of the shaving experience.

Harry’s Plus definitely has my attention. Its blades, handle, and pivot are all pretty special, but I do feel like I’ve heard this song and dance before. I fully admit shaving feels less like a chore and more like a treat, leaving my skin smooth and happy. It’s a solid win for my morning routine, no doubt. Still, after 10 years of research and development, I have to wonder if this is the revolutionary game-changer Harry’s hyped it up to be, or just a really great shave? Harry’s says part of the reason this stands out from all the other razors is because a lot of the best shaving features had been trapped behind patents, but as those freed up, they were able to get the best of the best and combine them into one, bringing a truly exceptional shaving experience. I felt that, literally.
